My memories of growing up in New Orleans are bittersweet. There were beautiful moments when Mama would take my sisters and me on the bus to go shopping for new shoes or to visit family. There were also special times when Mama would take us to the zoo on the streetcar.
On the other hand, I also have memories of seeing fights break out in the middle of the projects and being afraid to even leave my own home. But the moments I experienced are the moments that made me who I am, and I am grateful to God for His protection, grace, and mercy in my life.
I have a special place in my heart for children who are suffering around the world, and I am committed to doing all I can to help them. One of my goals is to share the story of God's grace and faithfulness in my life with underserved communities around the world. My life's mission is to be a blessing to this world. I pray that my story, Once There Was a Girl, blesses you.
